RACI Chart
Another valuable document that you won’t typically find in other Project Management document sets. We often create one or more RACI Chart during a project to clearly define roles and responsibilities. For example, we have a RACI for our PMO which defines the various players and their roles during a typical project. We may also create one specifically for a project team, and then a third for managing the final solution.
If you are unfamiliar with a RACI Chart, it is a simple tool for quickly listing individuals associated with a project and their responsibilities. You’ll use this template to list stakeholders, tasks, and responsibilities using the following descriptors.
- Responsible: Those who do the work to achieve the task
- Accountable: Those who are accountable for the completion of the deliverable
- Consulted: Those whose opinions are sought
- Informed: Those who are kept up-to-date on progress
All-in-all, this template has proven a terrific planning and communication resource for our Project Managers.
